Retro Railtours trip from Crewe on May 19th destination changed to Stirling

James Palmer at RETRO RAILTOURS has notified us that the Destination of his May 19th Charter Train from Crewe has been
CHANGED from Glasgow to STIRLING.

Anyone who had booked on the Charter Train with the intention of visiting Glasgow can STILL do so by alighting at Motherwell.
They would then need to travel by the ordinary service trains between Motherwell and Glasgow and return.

Please URGENTLY make DIRECT contact with RETRO RAILTOURS if you still wish to travel to GLASGOW and I understand
they will attempt to organise your tickets, providing they get sufficient notice from you.

If you do travel into Glasgow, PLEASE ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME to travel back to Motherwell to make the 17.25 hrs RETURN
Departure FROM Motherwell.

The train is now almost full, with just some FIRST CLASS seats available.
If you do make a booking, please mention you saw the information on The CFPS Website.

Just been advised that D335 is out again today at The ELR ” THOMAS ” event.

Information today was provided by Steve Jones who took a chance and travelled to Bury.
He is already enjoying haulage by D335 on the 09.00 hrs service off Bury to Rawtenstall.

The next departure off Bury hauled by D335 will be 11.20 hrs then 13.40 then 16.00.

Trains from Rawtenstall to Bury hauled by D335 will depart at 10.05, 12.25, 15.45 and 17.05.

D335 out again – Sunday 6th May 2012

D335 will AGAIN be working the The DIESEL Turn at The ELR Thomas event today, SUNDAY May 6th.

Departure times are ………….

BURY to RAWTENSTALL :-

09.00, 11.20, 13.40 and 16.00 hrs.

RAWTENSTALL to BURY :-

10.05, 12.25, 14.45 and 17.05 hrs.

7 coach formation.

There is a good chance D335 will be out on Monday also.

Just been advised that D1501 has failed at The ELRs THOMAS EVENT.

D335 has been called into action and will work the Diesel TURN for the remainder of today.

Please note that its a special timetable at Thomas events.

D335 is RIGHT NOW working the 09.00 hrs Bury to Rawtenstall service.

It will later work the 11.20, 13.40 and 16.00 hrs services from BURY to RAWTENSTALL

The RETURN services off RAWTENSTALL back to BURY are at 10.05, 12.25, 14.45 and 17.05 hrs.

D335 “may” work Sunday also if the 47 cant be repaired in time.

CLANG !!………A CORRECTION re D335….It’s in action AGAIN, this SATURDAY 21/04/12.

The message that I issued on 06/04 (see below) stating that D335 was having a rest after its 2 day running on Easter Sunday and Monday, was in fact incorrect.

I misinterpreted Lee Kennys comment that he made just prior to Easter when he stated he would be
sidelining the loco after “this roster.”

I took that to mean “after D335s Easter running” but Lee meant after the “current roster period” of The ELR.

My apologies for the misleading message and the confusion it may have caused.

D335 will in fact be working a Footplate Experience course on Friday 20/04

and then……

On SATURDAY 21/04 it will be hauling the Diesel Diagram at The ELR which starts with the 09.30 departure
from Bury to Rawtenstall.

Apologies again for the lash up and I hope you are able to attend the ELR this Saturday.

Scafell Pike Climb – success

I am pleased to announce that the CFPS climbing team of Andy Walton, Karl Crowther, Louise Redgrave, and Paul Richardson successfully reached the summit of Scafell Pike at exactly midday on Saturday 14/04. We were blessed with clear weather, and although it was a bit windy and there was snow on the actual peak, we all made it to the top.

Could everybody who has pledged Sponsorship to the Team please make the payment either as a cheque made out to the CFPS, and sent to my home address, or directly via the Paypal option on the CFPS website. If you do choose this option, please advise me so that I don’t start chasing anyone for money that has already been paid!

And of course, if anybody would like to make a donation ‘after-the-fact’, then please feel free to do so!many thanks on behalf of the whole Team,

D335 in action over Easter

55022 will be working the Diesel Diagram at The ELR, today Friday April 6th and Saturday April 7th.

Then, on Sunday April 8th and Monday April 9th, D335 is scheduled to take over the diesel diagram.

It will be the last opportunity to travel behind D335 for a few months as Lee is sidelining the loco to enable various maintenance tasks to be carried out.

At this moment in time, the intention is that D335 WILL be made available to operate at The SUMMER ELR Diesel Gala.

Further maintenance work is expected to take place on the loco after the event so no further operating days are being planned for D335 during the next 4 months or so.

You may therefore wish to grab the opportunity being made available this weekend !

D335 move to Mid Norfolk railway.

D335 will be moving to The MID NORFOLK RAILWAY on Thursday Morning hauled by 55022.

BOTH locos are scheduled to operate at their ENGLISH ELECTRIC Diesel Gala.

Its a 3 DAY event starting on Friday March 30 th and running on Saturday March 31st and Sunday APRIL 1st.

Other “EE” Traction scheduled to be in operation will include Classes 20, 37 and 50. A DRS Class 37 visitor is also expected.
